the lower umatilla BASIN groundwater management area
The Lower Umatilla Basin Groundwater Management Area, or LUBGWMA, consists of the northern portions of Morrow and Umatilla counties.
The long-term goal of the LUBGWMA is to reduce groundwater nitrates to less than 7 mg/L. The LUBGWMA Action Plan includes DEQ monitoring at 14 food processing and animal feeding sites and ongoing well monitoring at more than 100 well sites.
